History Aqualife has been producing soda pops in traditional Russian flavors since 1998 under the brand name Napitki iz Chernogolovki, or "Drinks of Chernogolovka", a town about 30 miles northeast of Moscow known for its science and technology sector. Pharmacist Mitrofan Ishino invented the first tarragon flavored sodas in Georgia in 1889. Later Ishino's sodas became a favorite of Soviet leaders and are supposed to have been served at the Yalta peace conference. In 1952, a variety of "Waters Ishino" sodas were given to Harry Truman in thanks for his gift of 2000 bottles of Coca-Cola. By the 1980s tarragon soda became a popular mass-produced drink in the Soviet Union. Review Such a cool bright green color! It has a sort of soapy vegetable smell. The flavor is light and smooth with hints of lemon and vanilla. Its a subtle beverage, not a strong flavor. Less strongly flavored than the Rosinka Tarragon. Its got a fresh, floral kind of flavor, not stale tasting. But it's not a very exciting drink. Perhaps something to sip in the background while eating dinner, but not a super satisfying or refreshing drink.
