History Rio Grande Foods was started in 1986 by Salvadoran immigrant Josué Alvarado to sell food products to the Latin American immigrant community. The company bills itself as a provider of "nostalgic" food items which might remind customers of hard-to-find flavors from back home. Since 1992 the company has operated farms and food processing plants in El Salvador for a wide variety of products. Review This is strawberry? Its fruity, in that vague area between artificial cherry and artificial strawberry. But it has little connection to the real thing. It is sugary, and refreshing in a peppy upbeat sort of way. As a 'red pop' it would be decent enough, but as a 'strawberry soda' it is completely unconvincing.
Ingredients Filtered carbonated water, sugar and/or high fructose corn sweetener, citric acid, artificial flavor, artificial color (FD&C Yellow #6) and sodium benzoate (as a preservative). Made by Rio Grande Foods, Inc. |
