History Blood oranges (Arancia rossa) originate from Sicily. Most are grown on the east side of the island on the volcanic plains below Mount Etna. The pulp of different varieties varies from dark orange to red or almost black and has the highest Vitamin C of all oranges. Review A rich opaque pink, almost purple color. The flavor is smooth and rich as well. This has a sort of unplace-able fruit flavor, not as sharply citrus orange as I expected. Its more like a fruit punch with hints of apple juice or grape juice flavors. Sort of reminds me of a classic Midwestern fruit punch made from frozen fruit-flavored sherbet and 7-Up: a juicy orange and cream flavor with light carbonation.
