History Eugene Peter Desnoes and Thomas Hargreaves Geddes formed a partnership in 1918 to make carbonated beverages. Desnoes & Geddes also sold imported liquor and beer until establishing the Surrey Brewery in Kingston to produce their own Red Stripe beer in 1928. In 1966 a larger soft drink bottling plant was added in Montego Bay. In 1999 Desnoes & Geddes sold the soda pop bottling side of its business to the Pepsi-Cola Jamaica Bottling Co. which continues to produce the D&G brands under license. Review A hearty beverage, rich in molasses flavor. Its not as thick as the Danish malt drinks but this seems thicker than some of the other Latin American maltas. Its got a crisp light sweetness to it, with thick flavor. A little toasted caramel or earthy molasses, just enough to give it a nourishing flavorful spice, not so much to drag the flavor down.
