History Eugene Peter Desnoes and Thomas Hargreaves Geddes formed a partnership in 1918 to make carbonated beverages. Desnoes & Geddes also sold imported liquor and beer until establishing the Surrey Brewery in Kingston to produce their own Red Stripe beer in 1928. In 1966 a larger soft drink bottling plant was added in Montego Bay. In 1999 Desnoes & Geddes sold the soda pop bottling side of its business to the Pepsi-Cola Jamaica Bottling Co. which continues to produce the D&G brands under license. Old Jamaica Ginger Beer was first sold in the UK in 1988 and is bottled by Cott Beverages Ltd. A 2016 BBC article found the beverage to have one of the highest sugar contents of common soft drinks. Review Ahh, a refreshing drink. A bit of a ginger kick to it but not overpoweringly peppery. Its a warming kind of peppery and not overly sweet.
